I like to meet face-to-face initially with clients within driving distance of my office in Julian, NC (time and place convenient for you). For those more distant, communication by phone, email, and fax works well.
Once we agree that Rawleigh Edits is a good fit for your project, I will draw up a Project Plan with clearly defined descriptions and stages of tasks and a timeline, for your approval. It is not written in stone, but provides a guideline that shows us how we are doing and how we are adhering to the initial Plan.
Fees
After discussing the project with you, I will give you an estimate for the work to be done, as detailed in the Plan. This is negotiable and subject to change by you or by me as the Plan is altered.
I charge by the standard rates, published by professional editorial organizations. These vary from $25 to $60 an hour, depending on several factors.
As an alternative, some clients prefer to specify a total number of hours required for the project (hours x rate). Upon agreement with that, we might include a “wiggle time” of 10 percent should the project be under, or go over, that time.
A written contract is required.
